Jemma finished dealing with the Romulan Lieutenant when another Commander stepped onto the bridge. This peaked Jemmaâs interest, especially as she Hadnât seen or heard From Captain Trane for quite some time since they docked with the Starbase. She didnât know what was going on, but by the look of things she was finally going to find out.
"Commander Jemma Grax?" He asked stepping in front of her.
With a smile she responded with âYes Commander, What can I do for you?â She asked, sensing slight trepidation from him.
Connor wished his race had some kind of empathic abilities as they would be real handy at a moment like this. ~Might as well start with small talk,~ He thought and smiled. âWhere is Captain Trane?â He asked though he knew already, but kept his expression neutral.
âIâm not aware of Captain Traneâs Location, although last I knew he was being summoned to Admiral Malloway aboard the Starbase, Sir. Thatâs as much as I know unless you know something I donât?â She commented with a slight questioning tone.
âIâm sorry to inform you that Captain Trane has been reassigned, temporarily, and I, Connor Blake, am to take command during his absence.â He said a little sad that a captain is taken from his crew. He offered the PADD with his orders on it to Jemma. "I wish we could have met under better circumstances but the situation deems it necessary.â
Jemma took the PADD and gave it the once over, finding everything in order. Considering that Jemmaâs CO had changed a number of times in a short space of time recently she wasnât particularly surprised to hear this new information. âIâm glad to have you aboard Commander and look forward to working with you. Iâm guessing our orders to go through the gateway stand? Or does Starfleet have another mission in mind for us?â She asked unsure quite what to expect now.
Connor smiled. "Thank you Commander," he was a little taken aback by her lack of surprise at the change of command but that was common for many executive officers throughout the fleet; he was fortunate to have Admiral Malloway as his CO as it was rare for Admiralty to replace one another.
"I too am looking forward to working with you." Connor nodded. "Yes our mission stands; through the gate and deploy the relay." He gestured to the turbolift. "Who was that Lieutenant?"
âThat was a Lieutenant Marek Lovok, Chief Intelligence Officer as well as Hazard Team CO. I havenât served with him before, he is obviously one of the new crew complement, so we shall have to wait and see how he goes.â She said with a twinkle in her eye. She always enjoyed working with new crew members, to watch as they grew with experience, or working under new Commanding officers, anticipating what new and exciting things they could teach her.
He smiled. "Yes we shall. Well I'd like to arrange a senior staff meeting to break the news to them and begin mission preparations." Connor had admired Marek and probably due to the man having pointed ears; he likes pointed ears as he has them as well. "Make it so," he said and smiled. "I've always wanted to say that." Connor joked.
Jemmaâs face creased into a smile at the comment. âYour wish is my command!â she smiled before asking, âWhen would you like it arranged for Commander?â She asked as she span on the spot and headed over to a computer terminal to compile the message to be sent out to the senior staff.
"In two hours," Connor said before he mumbled something about 'that should be enough'. "I'll be in the ready room."
âUnderstood.â Was her only reply as she set about sending the message out to the senior staff.
After sending the message Jemma glanced towards the ready room where her new CO was disappearing to, only to find him being stopped by a Lieutenant Junior Grade. She smiled inwardly to herself, he had barely been on the bridge two minutes and people were already making a bee line for him.
