The food was exquisite. The soup was quite rich, but still creamy and mildly seasoned. Even the water tasted great, like it was from a spring in some isolated pristine ecosystem. Perhaps it was the excitement and the anticipation of the upcoming mission that made the food seem so much better. Regardless of whether it really was the food or just psychology, Zack was still enjoying himself. He was seated at a table with a small group, including a Cadet wearing the blue of Medical and Sciences. For reasons he could not adequately explain, Zack had been dwelling on his ship's lack of a senior Counselor for the entire meal--almost as if somebody was projecting their own concerns onto him. By nature, Zack was a very casual person and seldom let anything bother him...but this was getting to him.
"Cadet," began Zack. "I'm just curious...are you in training for Counseling? My ship, the Independence, is in need of one and for some reason I just can't stop thinking about that. It's really bugging me."
