USS Independence
Captain's Ready Room
2200 hours
Zack straightened up in his chair as the chime to his Ready Room door rang. He knew who it was, and why they were here. Chief Engineer Rayner had brought Sullivan up from engineering for a nice, friendly chat with the Captain. Zack was still pretty angry about the little stunt Sulluvan had pulled with the Cardassian device...the little stunt that could have cost them the entire ship, or even the entire battle. Both of those outcomes were unacceptable. As the door swished open, Zack gave Sullivan his sternest expression, and an equally withering glance to the Chief Engineer.
"Chief," said Zack in a tone that brokered no room for discussion. "Sullivan. Both of you sit down. Now."
The two engineers entered the office and sat down without a word. Zack put on a calm expression, folded his hands before him on the desk, and spoke.
"Normally I would not intervene in a departmental discipline issur...but since Mr. Sullivan damn near got us killed, I figured it was my duty to step in. Do you have anything to say for yourself Sullivan, or anything to say on his behalf Chief?"
