Starbase Thrinacia
Airlock
2002 hrs
In Skagis's name, Kratt said to himself, finally able to catch his breath at the airlock to the Starbase. The Majesty had taken a significant pounding...almost as if the Cardassians had zeroed in on the vessel with the least experienced crew and focused their attacks accordingly. Given the circumstances, the Cadets had performed admirably. Kratt was still a touch puzzled as to why Commander Jackson had passed command over to Cadet Halsey, seeing as how the science officer's rank of Lieutenant superceded the Cadet's, but Kratt supposed his CO knew what he was doing.
Currently, the bridge crew of the Majesty was off the ship, armed to the teeth and prepared to assist the Starbase crew in repelling Cardassian boarders. Kratt checked his phaser right rifle one last time, then followed his shipmates once again into battle. His people had once been aggressive and territorial, bent on conquest and enslaving other less advanced societies. They had abandoned that mindset centuries ago following several decades of famine, internal political strife and horrific natural disasters; the Clerics on Old Skagara had convinced the general populace that their outmoded ways had displeased Skagis himself. Their new, more progressive galactic perspective had ushered in a Golden Age for their culture, but had also left their world vulnerable and had eventually led to its downfall at the hands of a blood enemy. The UFP had welcomed the Skagaran refugees with open arms, so despite his people's current pacifist leanings Kratt Skal was willing to fight to the death to preserve his adopted nation.
Commander Jackson was having a brief conversation with someone Kratt did not know by name but recognized from the interrupted festivities. All he could do now was wait for his next set of orders; without a Science station in front of him, Kratt felt a little useless.
